Back to the future: Agim Cavdarbasha is about showing one work in another space, time and context.

'Grate e Lybeniqit' by Agim Cavdarbasha (1944-1999), are faces of women with deep-drilled holes resembling eyes aimed at you, that today make me see our 1997 and images of the present.

For me 'Grate e Lybeniqit' by Agim Cavdarbasha is a real work, dedicated to Gani Bobi (1943-1995), a distinguished thinker, philosopher and sociologist, professor of Sociology of Culture at the Faculty of Philosophy and the Academy of Arts of the University of Prishtina, and a unique work that in itself caries wounds of our people. This piece is direct in its intention to capture time, as it was - harsh, cruel, dramatic, morbid, violent, and with death all around us. This work is neither soft nor peaceful. It is neither asking for help nor it is pathetic in its language. It is merely screaming out loud and talking to our people.

These are not only women that are no longer shy and are watching you, liberated for a moment from chains of our own society, these are women witnessing an event and empowering us to remember the time that we easily forget.

1997 was the year when this work was shown for the first time in Prishtina.
1997 marked the start of final phase of the implementation of the process of proclaimed resistance (in art) turned into normalization.
2010 is the year when our universities are no longer weapons for emancipation.
