Summer School as School 2020
Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina is pleased to announce the sixth annual session of Summer School as School.

The program is held August 3 – 19, 2020.

The Open Call for participation at Summer School as School 2020 will be announced in February 2020.

The 2020 program of Summer School as School will revolve around 15 courses, the public program with lectures, conferences, performances, film school program, DJ sessions and exhibitions by artists, writers, and scholars.

Up to ten applicants will be selected to take part in each course. Applicants can register to attend more than one class.

With Summer School as School, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina and partner institutions have created a unique collaborative international platform based in Prishtina, developing an interdisciplinary curriculum and engaging practitioners to share knowledge and expertise with international students and the public.

Originally inspired by the case of Kosovo, where the education system was structured in the mid-1970s, Summer School as School is designed to bring together and disseminate critical knowledge and address important challenges of today, implementing new models and possibilities in art education and artistic collaboration.

Presently, Summer School as School is the leading regional collaborative platform in art and discourse production, and a model that unites the capacity of the region of Southeastern Europe, engaged international faculty and partner institutions, to produce and disseminate a inter-disciplinary model of education and art collaboration.

The main partner institutions of Station - Contemporary Art Center Prishtina for the Summer School as School 2019 were: École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, IRWIN group, Cultural Center Rex / Fund b92, Belgrade, Exit Space Project, Skopje, Art House, Shkodra , Center for Contemporary Art ZETA, Tirana, Institute for Contemporary Art, Podgorica, Sonemus Association, Sarajevo, International Curators International - ICI, New York.

The 2019 program of Summer School as School included 14 courses, the public program with lectures, conferences, performances, film school program, DJ sessions and exhibitions by artists, writers, and scholars: Julieta Aranda, Franc Ashiku, Zdenka Badovinac, Eva Birkenstock, Sezgin Boynik, Boris Buden, Keti Chukhrov, Qendresë Deda, Adrian Deva, Patricia Falguières, Lek M. Gjeloshi, Tone Hansen, Albert Heta, Edi Hila, Koh Nguang How, Hristina Ivanoska, Liburn Jupolli, Sami Khatib, Nadežda Kirćanski, Elzbieta Matynia, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Suzana Milevska, Nebojsa Milikić, Miran Mohar, Zef Paci, Cesare Pietroiusti, Armina Pilav, Petrit Pula, Sonja Radaković, Bernhard Rüdiger, Yll Rugova, Renata Salecl, Silke Schmickl, Driton Selmani, Branimir Stojanović, DJ Tahira, Gáspár Miklós Tamás, Tatiana Tarrago, Marina Otero Verzier, Jelena Vesić, Anton Vidokle and Gëzim Visoka.

Selected 132 participants for Summer School as School 2019 came from 37 countries, including: Albania, Austria, Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, United Arab Emirates, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Iraq, Israel, Republic of Kosovo, Lithuania, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Tunisia, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States.

Language of instruction is English.

At the conclusion of each course, participants will be issued a certificate stating their equivalency of The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits from Stacion - Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, Kosovo and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, France.
