Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina is pleased to announce the fifth annual session of Summer School as School.
The program is held August 5 – 21, 2019.
The 2019 program of Summer School as School will revolve around 14 courses, the public program with lectures, conferences, performances, film school program, DJ sessions and exhibitions by artists, writers, and scholars, including: Julieta Aranda, Franc Ashiku, Zdenka Badovinac, Eva Birkenstock, Sezgin Boynik, Boris Buden, Keti Chukhrov, Qendresë Deda, Adrian Deva, Patricia Falguières, Lek M. Gjeloshi, Tone Hansen, Albert Heta, Edi Hila, Koh Nguang How, Hristina Ivanoska, Ana Janevski, Liburn Jupolli, Sami Khatib, Nadežda Kirćanski, Elzbieta Matynia, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Suzana Milevska, Nebojsa Milikić, Miran Mohar, Zef Paci, Cesare Pietroiusti, Armina Pilav, Petrit Pula, Sonja Radaković, Bernhard Rüdiger, Yll Rugova, Renata Salecl, Silke Schmickl, Driton Selmani, Branimir Stojanović, DJ Tahira, Gáspár Miklós Tamás, Tatiana Tarrago, Marina Otero Verzier, Jelena Vesić, Anton Vidokle and Gëzim Visoka, amongst others.
With Summer School as School, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina and partner institutions have created a unique collaborative international platform based in Prishtina, developing an interdisciplinary curriculum and engaging practitioners to share knowledge and expertise with international students and the public.
Originally inspired by the case of Kosovo, where the education system was structured in the mid-1970s, Summer School as School is designed to bring together and disseminate critical knowledge and address relevant challenges of today, implementing new models and possibilities in art education and artistic collaboration.
Presently, Summer School as School is the leading regional collaborative platform in art and discourse production, and a model that unites the capacity of the region of Southeastern Europe, engaged international faculty and partner institutions to produce and disseminate a inter-disciplinary model of education and art collaboration.
After running for the past years to much success, this year’s Summer School builds its agenda upon the various perspectives and experiences that theoretically and practically reflect and challenge the ongoing regional history and its connections to broader art, political and societal developments. Through situations that escape the normal limits, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina with Summer School as a School seeks to intertwine knowledge and (re)position the region of Southeast Europe in relation to its international and global coordinates.

Up to ten applicants will be selected to take part in each course. Applicants can register to attend more than one course.
Eligible participants must read the
Terms, fill out the
application form, upload the required documents and submit the application form. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Language of instruction is English.
140 applicants will be selected to participate in courses of the Summer School as School 2019.
At the conclusion of each course, participants will be issued a certificate stating their equivalency of The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits from Stacion - Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, Kosovo and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, France.
Selected 91 participants for the previous edition of Summer School as School came from 26 countries, including Albania, Australia, Austria, China, Croatia, Denmark, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Iraq, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
