Renaud Proch at Summer School as School 2017

Stacion - Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina is pleased to introduce the presentation of Renaud Proch, part of the Public Program of Summer School as School 2017.
Renaud Proch is Independent Curators International (ICI)’s Executive Director, while from December 2009 to March 2013, he served as ICI’s Deputy Director. Prior to this he was the Senior Director at the Project in New York, where he worked on developing the careers of a roster of 21 artists, as well as the Director of MC in Los Angeles, a gallery dedicated to the production and presentation of new solo projects by internationally established artists. Originally from Switzerland, Proch studied in London, and moved to the West Coast of the U.S. in 2001. He co-founded ART2102 of Los Angeles in 2003, a non-profit organization that incorporated gallery-based exhibitions, panel discussions, and screenings to expand the dialogue between local, international, emerging, and mid-career artists and curators. He also co-founded The Backroom in 2005, a growing artists’ archive and itinerant research-oriented project presented in five cities in the U.S., Mexico and France. In 2011, he co-curated with Khwezi Gule a retrospective of South African artist Tracey Rose for the Johannesburg Art Gallery, South Africa, and the Umea Bildmuseet, Sweden, which also traveled to the Nikolaj Kunsthal, in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has lectured at Camberwell College, London, the Royal College of Art, London, the California College of the Arts, San Francisco and Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles.

Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina and partner institutions with Summer School as School have created a unique international educational platform, based in Prishtina, as a progressing model; developing an interdisciplinary curriculum and engaging practitioners from the region and beyond in sharing knowledge and expertise with international students and the public.
The project’s larger context responds to the art education systems of Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia.
Summer School as School 2017 is organized in cooperation with Allianz Cultural Foundation, supported by ERSTE Foundation, Trust for Mutual Understanding(TMU), Federal Chancellory of Austria, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung office in Prishtina, Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo, Municipality of Prishtina, Independent Curators International (ICI), The Office for Contemporary Art (OCA), Norway and RIT Kosovo.
